Home Inspired: Kitchen

{Images from Pinterest and Made By Girl}

I'm moving!!! After four months of searching for a place in Vancouver we liked, (and didn't cost an arm and a leg) we finally found the perfect place. The best part? Decorating! I'm so excited to start putting our place together and make it our own. So I thought for the next few weeks I'd share some images that will influence my decorating choices, room by room, starting with the kitchen!

Our kitchen has a light colour scheme, stainless steel appliances and an island, which will be perfect for some pretty bar stools. I love the use of appliances, dinnerware, fruit and flowers for pops of colour in these kitchens.

Summer Wedding

Dress: Club Monaco | Bag: Anthropologie | Shoes: Nine West (Outlet)

Over the weekend my boyfriend and I attended a beautiful wedding. The weather, the setting and the bride were all perfection. I also love any opportunity to dress up! I have been searching for the perfect pair of nude heels forever, so I was thrilled when I found these ones at a Nine West outlet in Seattle!

I wanted the gift to feel extra special, so I wrapped it in handmade paper, and tied it with twine. I also typed the "to/from" onto a luggage tag with a typewriter for a personal touch.

Oh, and make sure you check out my friend Jacquelyn's stunning design blog Lark&Linen! Her weekly "Bits and Pieces" post, which features interviews with bloggers she follows, featured me today! Thanks so much Jacquelyn!

Join The Club

Loving Club Monaco's pre fall collection. The soft layering and warm colour palette are perfect for transitioning into fall. The outfitting feels modern yet bohemian, inspired from 60's sundry and 70's sophistication. I'm especially loving the burgundy socks with the mary-jane heels! Looking forward to what they have up their sleeve for the rest of the season.

Soft

Sweater: Anthropologie | Shorts: Levis | Bag: UO | Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

While walking home from work yesterday I actually saw leaves falling. Summer is coming to an end it seems. Although it's been hot and sunny almost everyday for the past two weeks, it is quite crisp in the morning and cool at night. A sure sign that fall is approaching. Which, I have to admit I am pretty excited for. I love summer, but fall fashion is certainly the most exciting and diverse. Layers, boots, jackets, I can't wait....

But for now, I've been keeping light pullovers and cardigans in my purse for the cooler evenings.

Snapshots and Tips

{Photos from Salt Spring Island}

I've been asked a number of times about the photography on my blog, so I thought I'd share some info! I shoot with a Canon XSI and for most of my shots I use a 50mm 1.8 lens. This is super sharp lens and is good for low light shots, not to mention it's only around $100. For the most part I shoot in AV mode, and do some post processing work in lightroom or photoshop. My boyfriend takes all of my outfit shots and I take most of the other ones.

I don't have a formal photography background, other than a few photography classes in university, but I do really love to take photos. The best advice I can give is be patient, practice and learn as much about your camera as possible!

Shop Crush: Buk and Nola

Buk and Nola is a home decor boutique in Montreal that I'm slightly obsessed with. I usually pride myself in the many boutiques I've discovered, however I have to give my boyfriend the credit for this one! He came home from work one day and was so excited to take me to see it, and what a pleasant surprise! (He did good, huh!)

The boutique has a whimsical meets soft and romantic aesthetic and is filled with so many wonders to discover. Including hand made pillows, furniture that's restored in the shop's atelier and unique accessories. I have found a few treasures here that I will be sure to share with you soon.

Wedding Season

I have a few weddings coming up and I can't help but think of what I may do one day for my own. Collecting images here and there from various wedding blogs I love and from pinterest, dreaming up my perfect day. Then I discovered the BHLDN moodboards. BHLDN, which is pronounced beholden, is inspired by the dutch word "to keep", and is a wedding line launched by Anthropologie. It has a similar modern feminine meets vintage aesthetic, yet is much more glamorous.

The website is breathtaking and the moodboards may be the best part. You can literally create your own inspiration boards from images on the site as well as your own photos. It's not limited to weddings either, you can create many different inspired boards.

Pike Place Market

If you can't tell I really love markets, and I think the Pike Place Market in Seattle is a new favorite. This was my first time in Seattle, and I'm looking forward to another trip soon! The market was obviously adorable, the shopping was great and the waterfront is so beautiful. We made sure to also check out a few landmarks which included the very first Starbucks and the gum wall (ew). The market is also famous for the fish throwing, however it was a bit challenging to capture a good photo.

Dolce Amore

Drewss: UO | Shoes: BLOCH | Belt: Vintage | Bracelet: Club Monaco

The heat has finally hit Vancouver, and it's been sunny for an entire week! My boyfriend and I have been taking advantage of the nice weather after work, going for walks by the water, having drinks on a few patios and of course treating ourselves to some gelato. YUM! We found this traditional Italian gelateria on Commercial Drive, where they hand make all of the flavours.

When it's this warm out all I want to do is throw on a dress, minimum accessories and head out the door. Summer, I like you.
