Trend Crush: Twisted Hair

one | two | three | four | five | six

My love for this twisted hair trend all began from the first image in the collection, which I had stumbled upon on Pinterest. Since then, I've been seeing it everywhere! The twists, especially when done in bangs, give such a romantic and vintage look, so sophisticated! I will definitely be trying out some of these looks, what about you?

Bathroom Organizing

If you haven't already noticed from when I shared my closet solutions or how I store my jewelry, I love to keep things organized. I think it makes everyday life easier when your things have a home. I struggle with mini condo sized everything in our place, (our oven doesn't even fit a normal sized muffin tray!!!) so I have to be creative when finding bins and things to fit in our space. I found these clear trays at IKEA and I love them for both function and aesthetic. I also recommend this divider from the same collection, it was just too big for the drawer (of course).

Our bathroom has drawers on either side of the sink, which makes for perfect "his and hers" storage. I keep my makeup in the top drawer and the rest of my products (cream, hair, etc) in the bottom drawer. Before this I had always kept my makeup in a large bag, which always made it impossible to find anything. Now everything is divided by eyes, lips, etc.. making my morning routine very simple and stress free!

Kate Spade & Garance Dore

clutch, iPhone case, blouse and text via Kate Spade | illustration and photograph via Garance Dore

French blogger and illustrator Garance Dore has partnered with the New York label Kate Spade  to create a playful yet sophisticated capsule collection. Garance has been a long time favourite of mine, her illustrations are so inspiring and her blog is an ongoing example of her quirky personality and stunning photography. The collection is made up of a print Garance designed (scenes from a Parisian cocktail party) and phrases in her handwriting "Toutes les filles sont folles" ("all girls are crazy").

I'm hoping to get my hands on a piece from this collection, I think it's so chic and fun! One of my favourite collaborations thus far. What do you think?

Sunset Stripes

Sweater: Club Monaco | Shorts: Free People | Wedges: Jeffrey Campbell (old) | Necklace: Stella and Dot | Watch: Michael Kors

We are experience a heat wave in Vancouver (not that I'm complaining) so although all I can think about is fall (with the release of all of the September issues) all I can wear is as little as possible!

Vancouver seems to be slightly behind from everywhere else. Summer doesn't arrive until mid to late July, and seems to stick around until almost October. Which makes for very confusing outfit choices. None the less I'm happy summer is still here and I can spend as much time at the beach as possible.

Trend Crush: Bicycle

Images found here and here

Ever since I got a bicycle a few months ago, I've been wondering how I ever went this long without one!? Andrew and I bike everywhere now. To the beach, to restaurants and of course around the sea wall (around the ocean in Vancouver). I found mine on Craigslist, a red vintage beach cruiser from the 70's complete with squeaking and rust (I love it).

I'm glad I finally caught on to the bicycle trend, and wish I had long ago. Now I just need to learn to look as stylish as miss Olivia Palermo while I ride!

Zucchini and Tomato Salad

Summertime is my favourite season for food. Although I do love comfort food on a cool fall evening, there is nothing that beats fresh fruit, veggies and herbs. We've been growing a variety of herbs on our small patio garden that we enjoy daily, and I've been going to the local farmers markets on weekends to get my produce. Trying our best to eat local as much as possible!

After playing around with several different summer salad recipes, I came up with this one and I'm seriously addicted! It's savoury yet refreshing and the colours are so pretty!

Zucchini and Tomato Salad
- 1 green and 1 yellow zucchini thinly sliced (with a mandolin if possible)
- 2 cups of cherry tomatoes halved
- half a red onion thinly sliced (with a mandolin if possible)
- a handful of crushed walnuts
- a small bunch of fresh basil
- a small bunch of fresh mint
- a handful per serving of feta cheese

Dressing
- juice of one lemon
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 clove of garlic crushed
- a pinch of kosher salt

In a large bowl, toss together zucchini, tomatoes and red onion. Whisk dressing together. Drizzle over salad. Add herbs and walnuts, toss. Serve salad with a small handful of feta on each serving.
Enjoy!

The Deighton Cup

Dress: Urban Outfitters | Clutch: Club Monaco (old) | Shoes: Tory Burch | Watch: Michael Kors

This past weekend Andrew and I attended The Deighton Cup, an old fashioned style day at the races. Everyone was dressed in beautiful hats and vintage style dresses, enjoying lots of bubbly. The outfits were such fantastic eye candy that I have to admit, I barely even watched the races! I can't wait to attend again next year, it was such a beautifully executed event.
