Lookbook Love: Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca Minkoff has quickly become my favourite designer. Not only do I find her handbags stunning, but I also admire how she markets her brand. SHOPBOP recently created a LOOKBOOK for her Fall Collection, along with this video, which I've admittedly watched several times. So quirky and well styled, not to mention the beautiful collection itself. I look forward to seeing what's next from this inspiring designer!

His Birthday Weekend

The wonderful man in my life celebrated his 30th birthday this past Saturday, which of course meant a full weekend of festivities. Delicious brunches, cocktails with friends, and of course some much needed take-out food and movie marathons on Sunday. It was such a great weekend, and our amazing friends and family made it extra special!

Well I finally broke down and wore tights for the first time this season. Don't get me wrong, I love how tights look, and they are such a fun way to change up an outfit. However, knowing I will be wearing them out of necessity for months, has caused me to avoid them as long as possible! But with the dip in temperature they are definitely a must.

Ora Bags

A few months ago I had the pleasure of attending the Ora Bags Fall 2012 preview. Designed and handmade by Randi Obenauer in Vancouver, the collection took my breath away. The brand truly represents Randi's personal style, which I realized as soon as I met her. "For the Fall collection I was pretty self indulgent in designing pieces that I want and need," said Randi Obenauer. "I always strive to come up with styles that are functional and beautiful, it's important to me that my designs are durable and useful in practical ways." As a young, stylish designer, she knows exactly what her clients are looking for with this new collection.

Trend Crush: Fall Hats

There's nothing more chic than a great hat. It makes an outfit feel so styled and pulled together. Not to mention it covers up a bad hair day! I love all of these looks because they have a tomboy feel to them, yet with some curls or a bright lip, still look feminine!

Decorating my condo has been a much longer process than I expected, especially when the weather gets nice and the last thing I want to do is be inside! But now that the sun seems to be fading and the air cooling I've started focusing on my home again. I'm working on a gallery wall over my couch, as well as collecting vintage pieces to add some special touches. Maybe in another year I will actually feel like I've completed the decor. Then again, maybe not!

Happy Friday and long weekend to my fellow Canadians! I'm off to Whistler for the weekend, looking forward to some relaxing and of course lots of turkey dinner for Thanksgiving! I hope you all have a very happy Canadian Thanksgiving with the ones you love :)

Heirloom

Tomatoes have been my favourite food since I was a child. I was never fond of cake or hot dogs or any other normal kid food, nope I loved tomatoes. I'm sure you've noticed this based on the recipes I share, like this zucchini and tomato salad or this three bean salad, both including tomatoes. 

You can imagine then that I love this time of year when heirloom tomatoes are in season. The different colours and flavours are so lovely and perfect for a tomato and bocconcini salad!

Tomato and Bocconcini Salad

Toss together tomatoes (as many colours, shapes and sizes as possible) with a pinch of salt. This will absorb access moisture in the tomatoes, making them more flavourful. Whisk together olive oil, salt and pepper and balsamic vinegar (a few tablespoons of each). Plate tomatoes with sliced bocconcini and basil, drizzle dressing over the salad. Done!

SHOPBOP has been creating some stunning lookbooks this season, my current favourite being this one with Tory Burch. The styling has a certain sophisticated school girl look to it (channeling Gossip Girl perhaps?) that is perfect for fall. I adore that plaid jacket, as well as this handful of accessories highlighted above. How amazing are those boots?
